WHY DO WE NEED TO EXFOLIATE?

LEARN ABOUT DEEP AND GENTLE EVERYDAY SCRUBS

As we age, the process of cell turn over slows down. Cells start to pile up unevenly on the skin’s surface, giving it a dry, rough, dull appearance. Exfoliation is beneficial because it removes those cells that are clinging on, revealing the fresher, younger skin cells below and leaving the skin smoother, along with making it easier for finishing products, like lotions and butters, to penetrate.

Why do we need to exfoliate?

SUGAR VS. SALT

SUGAR

Sugar’s small particles make an excellent exfoliant, and are used in a number of body scrubs to exfoliate dead surface skin cells and reveal glowing, healthy-looking skin underneath.

SALT

The abrasive action associated with salt scrubs invigorates the skin and helps to improve circulation. Scrubbing with salt also helps to remove bacteria from the skin and unclog pores.

EXFOLIATING WITH SUGAR SCRUBS

Sugar is a natural source of glycolic acid, an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) that penetrates the skin and beaks down the “glue” that bonds skin cells, encouraging cell turnover and generating fresher, younger-looking skin.

EXFOLIATING WITH SALT SCRUBS

Salt scrubs are generally more abrasive because of their sharper edges and, therefore, do a better job at smoothing the rough skin of the body.
